Warning:  Hand-drawn and hand-painted art does not come naturally to me at all.  I am most comfortable working with a medium that includes an Undo button.

MMC 11 Photographic Distortion, "Saavik at 12".

"Saavik at 12", my Photographic Distortion from MMC 11. It was inspired by a Trek novel I'd been reading, which begins with Spock's rescue of the child Saavik from an abandoned Romulan mining colony.

MMC 11 stiple drawing, "Eye Shadow".

My MMC 11 Stiple Drawing, "Eye Shadow". I'd been drawing "Eye Shadow" off and on since about 1972, in various digital and hand-drawn forms, but this was my first effort at stipling.

My Art 17 goat skull charcoal drawing from 2004

My Art 17 goat skull charcoal drawing from 2004. It was the first drawing I did that actually resembled what I was drawing, and was I shocked to see it turn out so well!

My Art 17 depth composition from 2004, featuring fruit

My Art 17 depth composition from 2004, featuring fruit, using pastel. Multiple lights cast intricate shadows, as the professor intended. I was the only student who attempted to draw reflections as well as shadows, and the inspiration to do so hit me just as class was ending, so it was an incomplete, two-minute effort.

My Art 17 Black and White exercise from 2004

My Art 17 Black and White exercise from 2004; a skeleton done partly in ink and partly in charcoal, because my ink bottle leaked.

My Art 17 Insect Study of a yellow jacket, from 2004

My Art 17 Insect Study of a yellow jacket, from 2004. It's mostly pastel, with a little Prisma Color added to the largest copy of the critter.

My Art 17 Photo Distortion, from 2004

My Art 17 Photo Distortion, from 2004. Although we were told to bring a photo of someone we love, or someone we hate, I didn't have a really clear idea what we would do with the photos, so I took along one of my wife and one of my Best Man. Once I understood the assignment, I decided that since Chris is an Art major, he would appreciate being the subject of this effort more than she.

olor="387CA6">My Art 17 Self-Portrait, from 2004

My Art 17 Self-Portrait, from 2004.  My perception is distorted somewhat; the mirror that the professor supplied was just a bit too small for me to see my face in at a distance where I could see my features well.  The result was a subject who simply would not sit still for the artist!

Since then, I have begun wearing bifocals and exhibit almost the full symptoms of, "old fogy syndrome", so that with the addition of arthritis, I must tilt my head back and get a crick in my neck just to read things that are right in front of my face, and must tilt my head down until my glasses slide off my face trying to focus on what ever I'm about to trip over. All I need to complete the symptoms would be false teeth, so that my mouth could gape open and let them fall out, when I tilt my head back.

My truly preferred artist medium is the English language. You can see some of my other college assignments at CR Student.com.
